Our Story

Warren: I first saw Amy when I joined DUMC back in 2004. I remember her singing a solo during the worship and being really impressed by her voice. (Okay, and her looks as well!) I turned to my buddy and business partner (and now best man) Alex and asked him who she was. I remember vaguely him telling me that she was in college. Never in a million years would I have thought that I was going to marry the girl on stage!
Amy: Actually, I was already in my 2nd year of uni. I never saw Warren in church before. I wonder why! God was probably blinding my eyes to him since I might have actually been attracted to him had I met him then (I was certainly not ready to be in a relationship then!). It was only on one fateful afternoon in January 2005 that Warren and I met each other. This was thanks to my best friend, Sook Fern. Sook Fern was interning at Integricity (Warren’s company) as an accounts person. She kept insisting that I met all her bosses (Alex, Jek & Warren) and she made it sound as if they were the nicest people in the world.
Warren: Sook Fern was absolutely spot on there heh heh.
Amy: Har har
So anyway, after refusing the first few times, I finally relented and met them all for lunch during Sook Fern’s lunch hour. I was in my final year in Monash University at that time so I had the luxury of driving over after classes. When we met, there was certainly no love at first sight or anything like that!
Warren: What? I thought you would’ve fallen head over heels in love with me! Heheh… just kidding.
Amy: Well, neither did you! So anyway, I remember meeting all of them: Alex, Jek, Pak Yang, Alex’s sister, Sarah, and Alex’s then-girlfriend, Grace. From what Sook Fern could recall, she said that I got along well with everyone but Warren and I talked as if we had known each other for ages. (Incidentally, I met Warren and three of his best men on the same day!)
Warren: Yes, I remember getting along well with Amy. We somehow clicked then, but went on with our separate lives without keeping in contact. God had His ways, though! In the many months that followed, Amy and I bumped into each other a couple of times. And each time seemed to only reinforce the chemistry that we had.
Amy: Yes, yes! I remember Jo-Ann & Yew Khuen’s wedding where I was the singer. Warren was sitting way behind but he came right in front to talk to me. I remember thinking, “Wow, this guy is really warm and friendly. Not to mention the fact that he looks really dashing in a suit!”
Warren: Talk about a Return On Investment! It’s not something I normally do, but that night something just made me go in front and say hi.
Amy: I’m glad you did
But still those times were still not enough for us to exchange emails or anything… until one day during my final semester in uni, when I was working on my Electronic Commerce assignment and I needed a quote for a website design. The first person I thought of was Alex, cos Sook Fern told me to call him. But Alex passed me on to Warren (Brilliant move, Alex). So it was then that Warren got hold of my e-mail address to send me some details. Nothing happened UNTIL… Warren checked out my Friendster profile (Friendster was the older and less cool version of today’s Facebook). To his delight, Warren read that I was a die-hard Liverpool fan!
Warren: I instantly felt the need to verify that. I had been a die-hard Liverpool fan since I was a kid, and knew that true die-hard female Liverpool fans were a rare breed. Most of these so-called fans were fans just because they found a particular player cute, or worse, the just jump-on-the-winning-bandwagon types… so I sent Amy an email.
Amy: Yeah, and who said watching football wasn’t beneficial!
Warren: Amy replied and amazed me with a thesis on her journey as a Liverpool fan, from the time she was a kid. She was die-hard alright: How many girls analyse football matches with their uni mates first thing in the morning??
Amy: *Grins*…Girls, the way to a man’s heart is not always through his stomach
Warren: Her footballing provenance verified, we exchanged contact details and started becoming friends. And before we knew it, we realised that we had so much chemistry and grew to be really great friends.
Amy: It didn’t take long before we fell head over heels in love with each other. And we’ve been inseparable ever since. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Am honoured that my wedding set the scene for Warren’s big move
But really, the credit must go to Amy’s singing – I think that was the clincher. I’m wondering if Liverpool’s current winning streak has got to do with the run up to your big day. God bless! YK
LIVERPOOOOOOOOL! They’re going to win the title for us, absolutely certain of that.
Heh heh. Thanks, Yew Khuen and Jo-Ann. Looking forward to seeing you both!
Haha… if we had known that that was going to be such a fateful night, maybe we should have sat Warren further in front so that they could chat more! Ah, but then, Amy would not have been so impressed that he came from all the way at the back! Congratulations, you two! I’m looking forward to your big day.
Hi guys! Thanks for the comments. Hahah, yah that’s true! I was impressed cos he was sitting way behind! I think Yew Khuen’s speech for you inspired Warren a little. Heheh…
And yes, I am pretty sure they’ll be winning the title this season because it’s meant to be our wedding present

Hi Amy & Warren,
I don’t think you remember who we are esp Warren but Amy was our flower girl during our wedding way back in 1989, Penang. We were so happy that she was the flower girl – pretty& poised – very confident & steady esp when it was her turn to walk down the aisle in Presbyterian Church. We would like to pray for God’s blessings upon both of you as you begin your life together as husband & wife.
Take care & God bless.
Congratulations on the wedding..
but nooo..Manchester United!!!!!!
