Our Bridal Party
The Bridesmaids
Ivy Chew
Ivy is part of our church gang whom we’ve known for many years now. I trust and rely on her so much that I’ve asked her to become not only my matron-of-honour, but one of my two wedding planners as well! I always have a great time with Ivy, meeting up for regular badminton and futsal sessions (although lazy me hasn’t been going in a while) and best of all, weekly makan sessions! Over the years, I really appreciate Ivy for picking up my phone calls at 2am and for patiently listening to my sob stories. Most importantly, I appreciate Ivy for praying for me every single time we’re on the phone and whenever we meet up personally. A newlywed herself, I look forward to many, many more years of friendship with her.
Brenda Gan / Ying
Ying is my super big-hearted cousin who is the epitome of someone who is wise beyond her years. We grew up having lots of fun playing and screaming in swimming pools, hogging the swings in public playgrounds and in the latter years – shopping!! Although she lives far away in ‘kiasu land’, we still keep in touch via phone, text messaging and MSN – sharing our hearts and lives with each other. Choosing Ying to be my bridesmaid was a no-brainer because she is one of the most reliable, trustworthy, loyal, well-mannered and caring people I will ever know. I look forward to introducing all of you to my lovely and gorgeous cousin.
Stefanie Tan
Stef is Warren’s younger sister whom I absolutely enjoy being around with. She is always armed with ultra funny one-liners, never failing to make the people around her laugh. Most importantly, Stef has always cared for me by doing things like helping me when I was sick as well as sending me text messages when she knew I was down. What I love most is our boardgames sessions with the Tan family. But seriously, I’m no challenge to Stef cos I can never seem to win when she’s playing! (Yes, Warren finally met his match). I’m really, really looking forward to all of us living in the same condo…That’s right, this beautiful lady is happily attached to Adrian Chew (Sorry, guys!).
Tanya Tan
Tanya is Warren’s youngest sister. Although she was away most of the time because of her studies and is now based in Singapore, I’ve always enjoyed chatting with her and her boyfriend, Weiwen, whenever she is around… and of course the many times we’ve played boardgames together (I can’t seem to beat Tanya too!). Tanya and Stef have been the best future sisters-in-law I could ever ask for – including me in their girly conversations and helping me so, so much in the wedding planning. I’ve always dreamt of having wonderful sisters and these two, in addition to Jessey, have definitely made my dream come true…
The Best Men
Alex Lam
For some nine plus years now Alex has been my buddy, brother-in-Christ, and business partner. Befittingly today, he is one of my best men. Alex brought me to DUMC from my previous church, and through that act led me towards a whole new group of friends, including the most important of them all: Amy! As a business partner, we merged our individual companies in 2003 to become the single entity that is Integricity today. Suffice to say, without him, my life would have been very different today. (Like not getting married and not working where I am today!) We men don’t say it enough: so here’s a big manly thank you and I love you, brother!
Ang Pak Yang
I’ve known Pak Yang since we were in primary school, and he’s one of my most trusted friends. We spent many hours together saving the world from terrorists and leading armies of men to vanquish evil in our multiplayer computer game sessions, but what I really appreciate about Pak Yang is his heart of gold for his friends. Not many guys go to the lengths Pak Yang goes for his friends! He’s also one of the rare few guys with whom I can talk about clothes and fashion with: this guy knows his stuff! And psst ladies: he’s single!
Jek Tan
Jek has been my buddy, business partner and fellow die-heard Liverpool fan for probably almost as many years since we last won the league title. Thankfully, however, we’ve been doing a lot better in the Integricity foosball league where our partnership is almost unbeatable. Come challenge us if you dare! We also share a passion for cars, chilly pan mee and choosing great restaurants at theQguides.com (sorry, I know this is corny, but I really had to plug Integricity’s latest family member!). Jek’s your all-round friendly, great and dependable guy, and now a very proud father to a pair of twin baby girls!
Note: Unfortunately, Jek was down with very bad flu during the week and was unable to fulfill his groomsman duties. Thankfully he recovered soon enough to attend our wedding (most important thing!). Fortunately, Ronnie Khoo (Ivy’s husband) was an instant choice to replace Jek as he has been our very close friend for many years now. More on Ronnie soon
Dr Sucharit Pongprakyun
Sooch (as we affectionately call him) and I have been friends since primary school, and one of the smartest guys I’ve ever known. We sat next to each other in forms 4 and 5: competing with each other and comparing results when it came to exams, listening and offering advice to each other when it came to matters regarding girls, and partnering each other when it came to beating other schools in sports, debates and other competitions. He’s now added being an up-and-coming medical doctor and also added a lovely wife – who also is a doctor – to his list of many accomplishments, which means Amy and I should be getting free medical advice for years to come!
The Page Boys
Johan Gulam
Johan is Amy’s father’s cousin’s 8-year old son (what a mouthful!). Johan is very well loved by all the uncles and aunties in Amy’s dad’s family, showering him with Transformers toys, Nintendo games and lots of toy cars. Our very fond memory of Johan was when he was around 5-years old and he kept telling us that his dream was to sit in a BMW. The expression on his face was priceless when we escorted him into a black shiny BMW with the doors unlocked! (it was Warren’s car *winks*) As humorous and child-like as Johan is, a few weeks later he said he didn’t like BMWs anymore. Hahah…
Bastien Lee
Bast is our church cell group leader’s extremely cute and charming 4-year old son and he is their 3rd child (they have four!). Seeing him grow up, we have become so fond of Bast and his fondness of calling everyone “Auntie Mei Fong” (one of our cell group members). Bast is such a charming little boy because he is always giving his sweet smile that makes everyone around him go “Awwwwww”.
The Flower Girls
Natalyn Lee
Nat is Bast’s 6-year old sister who loves watching Princess cartoon shows and loves playing with her My Little Pony and Friends toys. As some of you know, Warren loves playing war computer games and other “big boy” strategy games. But Nat is so endearing to Warren that he can’t help but melt and play along when Nat asks him to play her My Little Pony toys with her. That scenario really assured me further that Warren would make an incredible father to our children in the future. After every cell group meeting ends, it is not supper that Warren and I look forward to. It is spending time with Bast, Nat and the other two kids, Jolene and Jayden that we absolutely can’t get enough of.
Joy Ling
Joy Joy is our closest family friends’ (Uncle Khoon Yuin and Auntie Winnie) daughter. At 5-years old, Joy is already a very capable girl, well-taught by her parents to be responsible in putting back her own Princess cartoon VCD into the casing and taking good care of her youngest sister, Eve. She also has an elder sister, Faith, who is the most mature and well-spoken 8-year old we have ever known. Joy Joy recently injured her hand and had to have a few minor surgeries performed on it. But what touched us the most was seeing her live up to her namesake- always joyful in spite of her circumstance. We know this little girl is going to grow up to be a wonderful, beautiful, godly woman and we are so proud and privileged to be able to witness that.
